Mandalay Bay Description

At Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, excess is the norm. Visitors can listen to some of music’s greatest artists, spot some of the world’s most dangerous predators and bodysurf some of the city’s largest waves without ever leaving the 60-acre property.

The AAA Four Diamond Award-winning resort is practically dripping in nightlife, dining, entertainment, recreation and relaxation. The accommodations are modern and up to date, offering wireless internet and iPod docking stations in every room. The adjoining THEhotel complements the already-impressive property, offering a boutique hotel for guests looking for a cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Hip and high-end, Mandalay Bay is a bustling, Polynesian paradise, accented by fountains, sculpture, marble and flora. Surrounding it is dining at its finest, from the proletariat Red Square (you can’t miss the life-sized Lenin statue, sans head) and futuristic China Grill to the elegant Fleur de Lys and stylish StripSteak.

The three-tiered nightclub rumjungle boasts go-go girls and a wall of fire while Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce showcases burlesque’s finest dancers. The dancers are off limits, but head over to Eyecandy Sound Lounge for a different kind of interactive experience (and don’t forget to bring your iPod).

In the Mandalay Bay Theatre, the Broadway and now big screen hit Mamma Mia! brings audiences of all ages to their feet – and beloved ABBA songs like “The Winner Takes It All,” “Money, Money, Money” and “Take a Chance on Me” set the tone for a little casino action. (Of course, at 135,000 square feet, Mandalay Bay’s casino is anything but little).

Whether you’re a fan of rock, reggae, rap, rockabilly, jazz or blues, the House of Blues has it all. The venue not only books musical legends, but also puts on a soulful Sunday Gospel Brunch, featuring great live music and a traditional Southern food buffet. The events center at Mandalay Bay meanwhile, provides a venue for sporting events and arena-sized musical acts, while the Shark Reef houses 100 species of marine animals, including jellyfish, crocodiles, turtles, stingrays and even a Komodo dragon.

Outside, the tropical landscaping offers an exotic retreat as Mandalay Beach gives you the chance to float down the lazy river, ride waves that can reach six feet high, gamble in a three-story beachfront casino or sunbathe topless (at the private Moorea Beach Club).

You'll think back on this Vegas vacation forever after heading over to Starlight Tattoo, where celebrity tattoo artist Mario Barth may be on hand to ink a permanent reminder on the body part of choice.

And there's still much, much more to see and do, including shopping at Mandalay Place, relaxing at Spa Mandalay or creating the ultimate Vegas cliche by tying the knot at THEwedding chapel.
